Jonny Stax, an entertainment producer in Chicago, announces internship opportunities for the 2010 winter, spring,and/or summer terms. Interns will be paid a small financial stipend and supported to receive school credit upon successful completion of the program. Interns will be provided a pro-active learning environment, substantial resume-building responsibilities, and networking opportunities in the Chicago entertainment industry.
About the company:
Jonny
Stax has been producing The Scooty and JoJo Show (www.scootyjojo.com) in Chicago for more
than two years, with cult hits such as CARPENTERS HALLOWEEN, DIVA BRUNCH, and
MOLLYWOOD.This year he is
building a production company, JoJo Presents, through which he will develop and
produce new works, including new Scooty and JoJo Shows, as well as represent other
performance groups and individuals.Interns will have the opportunity to be involved in the
foundation-building of a new company with experienced professionals and tested
products as well as help shape new, innovative projects and products.We are looking for individuals with

and have an interest in entertainment.
About the internship:
This winter’s internship
program will be focused on development of new projects, organization
development of the company, and identifying ways to use new media outlets to
promote the company.Spring
internships will include the above as well as execution of some of the new
projects developed in the winter.Interns
will have the opportunity to develop a uniquely tailored program by identifying
where their interests intersect with the needs of the company.Needs of the company currently include:
Production
management:With new productions and remounts of past
productions coming up in the spring, summer, and fall, our production
manager needs assistance in building and maintaining production calendars,
facilitating and documenting design and production meetings, researching
appropriate venues, managing budgets, identifying talent, and other
activities necessary to carry concept to stage.
Construction
of design elements:For upcoming projects, designers are building
teams of professionals and interns to construct new sets, puppets,
costumes, props, and other design elements.
Organizational
development: The company needs
to develop working principles, internal communication systems, personnel
handbook, business plan, bookkeeping systems, core staff and auxiliary
consultants, and other elements necessary to solidify the infrastructure
of the company’s producing capacity.
New
media integration: The company
needs to use new media sources such as video blogging, website
development, networking sites, and more to promote their work and develop
new audiences.This includes
researching and setting up accounts, uploading footage and material,
setting up systems for upkeep, making improvements to the website, and
more.
